Excursion into the heart of the financial world

Students on the Bachelor's degree program in Applied Mathematics visit the European Central Bank (ECB).

A total of 26 students from the second to fifth semester took part in an excursion to the ECB headquarters in Frankfurt.

After a comprehensive and competent introduction to the tasks of the central bank, the students discussed economic topics relevant to them, such as inflation and the influence of exchange rates on price formation.

After the visit, the discussions continued on a hike along the Main in bright sunshine.

The intensive discussions continued during the subsequent visit to the highly recommended special exhibition "Streit" (Dispute) in the Communications Museum near the Euro2024 Fan Mile.

The exhibition offered participants a comprehensive look at the causes and effects of conflict. It interactively confronted their own view of social and personal dispute culture.

The successful excursion was organized and accompanied by Jutta Groos and Jan-Philipp Hoffmann, who teach the basic lectures on analysis and linear algebra as well as advanced courses on stochastics, data science and financial mathematics.
