More and more banks have been disappearing from our immediate vicinity for years, and local lending is also on the decline. According to financial mathematician Christoph Becker, the bank customer is becoming a small player on the international financial stage. Becker, who works at the Darmstadt Institute for Statistics and Operations Research, has captured his findings in an exclusive recording for Deutschlandfunk Nova. This is based on his lecture, which took place on April 22, 2024 as part of the "Citizen Lectures" at the Technical University of Darmstadt. The title of his lecture was: "The financial system and human self-determination".
