Applied Mathematics degree programme

Is maths more than just numbers, formulas and compulsory subjects for you? Do you want to change the world and make a career out of it? Then Applied Mathematics is exactly the right degree programme for you!

Many sectors, e.g. industrial companies, banks, the public sector, insurance companies, research institutes, IT services or management consultancies are urgently looking for mathematicians who can analyse, model and forecast.

From the winter semester 2026/2027, the Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Mathematics will be replaced by the three new Bachelor's degree programmesAnalytics in Business and Financial Markets, Computational Mathematics and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

However, it will still be possible for transfer students to enrol on the Bachelor of Applied Mathematics programme in a higher semester.

We build on the school curriculum from the upper secondary level and teach the mathematical basics and programming skills in the first semesters. From the fourth semester at the latest, elective subjects are added depending on your interests. Study modules in the form of lectures, exercises and project work provide the qualifications and skills. The degree programme flyer or the first semester brochure provide an overview. The degree programme also includes a practical work phase in the sixth semester and concludes with an independent Bachelor's thesis.

Recognition of achievements and placement in a higher semester

If you change degree programmes, you may be able to have any introductory modules you have passed in mathematics recognised. This allows you to be placed in a higher semester.
